The Greek Orthodox Youth of America group (GOYA) is open to all Orthodox children ages 12 to 18 (seniors in High School).
The GOYA meets once a month to conduct business. Activities are planned, treasurer's report, committee report, and they are updated of the news from the metropolitanate.
The GOYA is involved in basketball and volleyball and they meet twice a week for sport practices under the supervision of experinced coaches and the Youth advisors.
The GOYA of Union participate to the Tournaments of the Parishes of the Metropolis of New Jersey, to the spiritual retreats, to Sights and Sounds, Goya Olympics and Goya Pageant. They have brought many trophies from the Olympics. For two consecutive year they won the first place in the Greek Theater in the Sights and Sounds Competitions.
Also, last year for the first time in our own history one of our Goyans, Mr Emmanuel Vozos won the Mr. Goya title in the Goya Pageant of the Metropolis of New Jersey.
Our GOYA's fund raising includes Christmas caroling, cakes sales, annual Dance, car washing, chocholate sale. The proceeds are donated to needy children. Also during Christmas Season they visit children affected with aids, who are celebrating their last Christmas in the area hospitals. In Spring they go on a field trip.
